A second reason for this policy concerns ratios. In educational circles, it is well known that a teacher’s ability to teach effectively is directly related to the ratio of teachers/assistants to students. As the ratio goes up, it becomes increasingly more difficult to teach and manage a classroom effectively regardless of the abilities of the instructor. This program keeps the ratios in the classrooms low and helps teachers to fulfill their ministry. The ratios in K-Zone are as follows:
Nursery—1:2 (goal) 1:4 (max)
2-3 year-olds—1:6 (goal) 1:8 (max)
4-Kindergarten—1:8 (goal) 1:10 (max)
1 st-5 th Grade—1:10 (goal) 1:12 (max)**
**1:10 means for every 1 teacher/assistant, there can be 10 children
We are asking all parents/guardians who regularly have children involved in K-Zone to serve as a Parent Assistant in their one of K-Zone’s classes at least once every eight weeks. This is a “no-experience-necessary” position. Again, this will give parents a great opportunity to stay informed about what their children are learning and will serve as discussion material enabling them to have spiritual conversations with their children throughout the week.
