In The Spotlight
It was a lucky day four years ago when Shane and Laura Heilman strolled into Bridgetown Church.
The couple is now fully engaged in the operation of the church and in implementing the church's mission to: "Love our community and invite them into a life-changing relationship with Jesus."
Shane is the Men's Minister, teaching a 6:00 a.m. Wednesday Bible Study that meets at Panera's Restaurant, and he is involved in the Wednesday evening Men's Bible Study. As a recently elected elder, he is looking forward to his new role in the church.
Laura has been church treasurer for about six months, keeping a watchful eye on spending.
The two lifelong Kentucky residents moved into the Western Hills area when Laura earned her degree in chemical engineering from the University of Kentucky and was hired by Procter and Gamble in the products research division.
Shane works for the Corporation for Findlay Market, a group that manages the newly renovated historical open-air market that is central to the redevelopment of the Over-the-Rhine area.
After three years attending another church, Shane and Laura visited Bridgetown's interim minister Doug Spears and felt at home.
Shane and Laura moved back to Kentucky last fall, and in the little spare time they have, they like to spend together, enjoying their new home in Petersburg, KY. with 11-month old son Max.
